Getting Started
This guide takes you from install to a running program in a few minutes. Every command and example here was checked against the shipped RUDRA 1.1.0 toolchain.
1. Install the toolchain
Download the Linux x86_64 archive from Downloads, verify its checksum, then install it:
tar -xzf rudra-1.1.0-selfhost-linux-x86_64.tar.gz
cd rudra-1.1.0-selfhost-linux-x86_64 && ./install.sh
export PATH="$HOME/.local/bin:$PATH" This installs ruxc and rudra into ~/.local/bin. To check the install works, compile and run the bundled example in the next steps (share/rudra/examples/hello.rux in the archive).
2. Your first program
Create a file named hello.rux. A runnable program defines main and ends with return main();:
fn main() -> int {
print("Hello, RUDRA!\n");
return 0;
}
return main(); 3. Compile and run
Use the compiler directly:
ruxc hello.rux hello && ./hello This prints Hello, RUDRA!. The rudra wrapper takes the same arguments (rudra hello.rux hello) and also makes the std library importable, because ruxc resolves imports only from the source file's own directory.
The 1.1.0 release has no project scaffolding: there is no rudra new, rudra run, Rux.toml or --run flag. A driver with build, run and check commands exists in the source repository but is not yet released.
