Runtime

PARTIALLY VERIFIED

A minimal native execution model.

RUDRA programs are static native executables with no runtime, interpreter or virtual machine. There are no spawn, mutex or channel builtins in the self-hosted compiler; concurrency primitives are provided by standard-library modules instead.

Details

  • Safety checks are compiled in: integer division by zero traps, list access is bounds-checked, and lists are capped at 512 elements.
  • std/thread.rux provides process-based concurrency (thread_fork, thread_wait, thread_exit) built on the fork system call; these are processes, not shared-memory threads.
  • std/chan.rux provides channels (chan_new, chan_send_status, chan_recv_status and try / timeout variants) carrying 64-bit integers in FIFO order over an operating-system pipe, with a finite capacity (about 64 KB by default).
  • There is no mutex module in the released standard library.

Note

Threads, mutexes and channels as language builtins (spawn, mutex_new, chan_send) belong to the earlier Rust-based 1.0.x toolchain and do not exist in the self-hosted 1.1.0 compiler.
